Jazz band first performance

We played our First concert on the Wednesday the 21st of November, after days of practice we finally had the chance to show what we were capable of doing and we made a very good performance. For two months we were practicing many songs to perform at the concert but we decided to play "Pick Up The Pieces", "The First Noel" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", Jazz songs that i highly recommend to listen. We wanted to perform for the upcoming holidays as well so we decided to have some Christmas songs.

Our performance was not bad and the audience liked the music. For future concerts we might have to work a little more on the songs now that instead of only three songs we will have to perform seven jazz pieces. Our next performance will be at Rosslyn Academy the 7th of December, we are going to be playing "Play That Funky Music", "Jungle Boogie", "Burritos To Go" and others...

Jazz Band

I decided to join Jazz band again because it is a very fun group to be in and be part of creating beautiful songs and melodies is priceless and very worth it. I'm one of the drummers in the group. There are many instruments in the band such as flutes, clarinets, saxophones and trumpets and every wednesday and friday in the morning from 6:50 am to 8 am we practice for important upcoming events in our school and even outside school.
In my personal thought, Jazz band is a fantastic opportunity for me to become a better drummer and meet new people in the process and the happiness of doing a good job during concerts bring a lot of satisfaction to it.

ISK Drumline

Just like last year I decided to join the ISK drumline for two main reasons, to improve my skills as a drummer and to have fun playing and composing music. This is one of the few clubs that engages students in creating music and learn percussion in many funny ways. Currently we are 11 student from the Middleschool and Highschool, we are few but at least we get the job done. As a group we work great, we help each other to understand and learn and we make a lot of progress each practice.

Our first performance was the 21 of august, 2013 in the ISK PTO Picnic, we actually did a good job, far better than what we expected. In the future, the highschool band and the drumline might do a trip to Kilifi to perform for the Kivukoni Elementary School.
